The Festival, the main event, comes off at the CSIR Food Research Institute, Accra on 24th and 25th July, 2025.
It will comprise a Food Expo, at which all kinds of tilapia and catfish delicacies will be on show, at moderate prices, for you to enjoy at the venue, and to take home.
There will be a Conference on the theme Innovation in Ghanaian and African Aquaculture, with presentations by local and international resource persons. The Special Feature will be the launch of the TILAPIA AND CATFISH FRIDAY, which will enjoin every Ghanaian to enjoy tilapia and catfish delicacies every Friday.

This morning, Hon. Emelia Arthur, Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, welcomed the executives of the Ghana National Association of Aquaculture to her office.

In November 2024, a workshop was jointly organized at R and B Farms by the Ghana National Aquaculture Association, The Fisheries Commission and the Norwegian Agency For Development Cooperation (NORAD), at which researchers, experienced fish farmers and other experts made presentations.

The Tilapia and Catfish Festival came off at the Food Research Institute at Shiashie in Accra on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th July. It was, to say the least, quite a memorable event.

Ghana’s much awaited Tilapia and Catfish Festival Comes of at the CSIR Food Research Institute, Accra, on Thursday, 25th and Friday 26th July. Fish farmers and processors, industry professionals and food vendors will present a wide variety of traditional and modern delicacies to the public to taste and buy. Two important events, a Stakeholders Forum and a Farmers’ Forum will form part of the event.

The two day event, organized on April 26 and 27 by the Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana and held at the World Trade Centre in Accra, brought together an impressive number of local players in the aquaculture value chain, with a decent amount of international participation.

Ghanaian graduates and a Tanzanian fish farmer, has passed out of the World Institute For Soy In Human Health (WISHH) sponsored 6 week training programme in the Volta region.
